The California Asthma Public Health Initiative

The mission of the California Asthma Public Health Initiative (CAPHI) is to improve the quality of life for all children and adults with asthma through implementation of effective programs and policies in asthma education, management, and prevention. CAPHI is part of the Chronic Disease Control Branch in the California Department of Health Services.

This site provides a wide range of resources to assist individuals, parents, childcare providers, schools, and healthcare providers to manage asthma effectively.

Better Asthma Care for California Kids

With funding from First 5 California, the Childhood Asthma Initiative, CAPHI, and the American Academy of Pediatrics/Chapter 3 present an innovative web-based quality improvement program for healthcare professionals that treat children with asthma. The free program includes instructional videos, resources for asthma education, tools to make it easier to use the National Asthma Education and Prevention Program asthma guidelines, and information on quality improvement in the healthcare setting. This program has been approved for up to 2.5 hours of CE credits for doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and respiratory therapists.
